Biography
Adam began his legal career at the Broward County Public Defender’s Office in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The famed office led by the late Al Schreiber was known for vigorously representing their clients and trying cases. Adam tried complex felony cases including capital crimes cases and multiple first-degree murder cases. After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Adam went on to litigate personal injury cases for a couple large personal injury offices in South Florida.
Adam is a 2006 graduate of Gerry Spence’s famed Trial Lawyers College. At the ranch, Adam spent nearly a month learning and crafting his skills not only from Mr. Spence but a who’s who of this country’s greatest trial lawyers, Paul Luvera, R. Rex Parris, Jim Fitzgerald, Jude Basile, Joe Fried just to name a few.
In 2012, Adam established the Dougherty Law Firm in South Florida and continued fighting for the rights of those injured due to other people’s negligence. In 2014, Adam was in the first graduating class of the KeenanBall Trial College in Atlanta, GA. In 2015, Adam joined the faculty of the KeenanBall Trial College eventually becoming an Assistant Dean. He has taught the following trial college courses to attorneys from around the country: Rules, Opening Statement, Witness Preparation, MIST, and Cross Examination.
In 2017, Adam was brought in to try the case of Rojas v. Wolfson in Miami-Dade County and Adam along with his co-counsel, Greg Ward obtained a $2,500,000.87 verdict for their client. The initial pre-suit offer in the case was twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00). That verdict was a Top 50 Florida Personal Injury verdict in 2017. Later that year, the Dougherty Law Firm was awarded the Best Personal Injury Trial Law Firm in Broward Count by Legal Elite Awards.
Adam has been involved in several high-profile cases including suing former pro football player and Super Bowl winner, Plaxico Burress for rear-ending his client.
In the summer of 2021, Adam relocated to Arizona and opened up Feller & Wendt AZ, PLLC. with his good friends and partners, Matt Feller, Thaddeus Wendt and Brian Hansen.
On April 21, 2022, Adam obtained a Top10 Bench Award in the State of Florida after trying a drowning case before the Court. After the trial the Court awarded $5,135,500.00 to the family.
