Sean Maye is presently the 2023 CO LGBT Bar Association "Attorney of the Year," and also has several other recent nominations and awards for his excellence in criminal defense and trial advocacy.

Sean began his career as an Assistant Public Defender with the Miami-Dade Public Defender's Office in Miami, Florida - first as an intern in 2012 and then as a licensed attorney in 2014. There, he served as first-chair counsel for clients charged with all degrees of misdemeanor and felony charges. He represented clients through each stage of litigation, including bond hearings, pre-trial constitutional, evidentiary, and procedural motions, as well as trial, sentencing, and appeals.

In 2017, he then became a Junior Associate with Isriel Ponzoli, P.A., specializing in first-party property insurance disputes and in defending usury challenges to global corporate financing merchant-sales agreements. In civil practice, he again specialized in trial litigation, which contract formation and defense, and complex settlement negotiation, family law disputes, DUIs, and general probate matters.

He relocated to Denver in 2018, where he then joined the Denver Public Defender's Office as as a senior litigation attorney. There, received several successful DUI and domestic violence trial verdicts and otherwise represented indigent defendants on a wide range of felony charges, including complex Colorado Organized Crimes Act (COCCA) indictments, sex assaults, and homicides.

Sean founded the Maye Law Group in 2020 and now serves the greater Denver metro area - representing clients in litigation in the following jurisdictions: Adams, Jefferson, Arapahoe, Douglas, El Paso, Gilpin, Thornton Municipal, Westminster Municipal, etc.
