He is a Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation, the Reginald Heber Smith Law Fellowship, and the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference, and a Fellow of the American Bar Association. Mr. Staton has long supported equal access to justice through service on the boards of the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service, the Howard Community College Foundation, and Marian House. A graduate of Oberlin College and the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D., 1980), he frequently lectures on law, medicine, and tort reform at institutions including Johns Hopkins Hospital, the University of Maryland School of Law, and the Maryland legislature.
